Your favourite DJ's favourite DJ Jane Fitz joins forces with Transmigration head honcho David Fogarty for Mysterious Vastness, a compilation of deep cuts from beyond Billy Bragg's trunk road to the sea, Essex's answer to Route 66, the A13. The release comes through the amazing Berlin-based label Transmigration, which has a knack for unearthing once-lost hidden gems. This vinyl is no different, as the compilation is curated through a selection of finds across second-hand record and charity shops, and is filled with tracks heard across Fitz's sets. Despite the common, A13-themed denominator, the project features a diverse array of genres. Tracks like 'Ridiculous', 'Multiple Sensory Contact', 'The Colours (mix 2)' and 'The Dream' are trance infused techno bangers, whilst 'Morpheus' and 'Aman' delve into the acidic side of pH house scale. 'Rupununi Rhythm' and 'The Hourglass (Time Mix) are some tribal house highlights, whilst 'The Comfort Of Strangers (Rhythm Doctor mix)' provides some bleep tasters for good measure. Similarly to Fitz's DJ sets, there's something for everyone here, but perhaps most importantly, the record serves as a time capsule of a developing suburban-cum-industrial landscape of Greater London at the turn of the century.
