Timur Basha is the longtime artistic director and resident DJ at Closer Kyiv, and now steps into the spotlight with his first solo EP after 15 years of behind-the-scenes production. Basha's vibe blends introspective melodies with precisely crafted rhythms. 'Sluhay & Dyakuy' gets underway with a sly vocal blending into focus as a dubby bassline unfurls under crisp drums. It's a freaky sound with a surreal edge then 'Taxi Clearance' has a loopy swing to it that soon casts a spell. Dana Kuehr remixes with a little more definition but still a late-night, slithering groove for rooms where there is patience to let minimal sounds make their mark. 'Any Word Should Suit' closes with more firm drums and trippy, early Villalobos-style effects.
