Joe Milli returns to Livity Sound with a second EP that strips back the dubby atmosphere of his debut 'Deep Forest' and replaces it with something rawer. Repetitions is four tracks of stark, heads-down club production that splits the difference between techno propulsion and UK Funky swagger with confident precision. 'Retreat' piles percussion into an uptempo stomper with carnival accents; 'Mantra' maintains a similar four-four thrust around the 140 mark without losing focus. 'Revival' locks into a heavy dembow-informed groove while 'The Less You Know' closes with tense, precisely arranged hand drums primed for creative mixing. Superb debut.
