This is the opening chapter in a concept led by Spain's TSO aka Pau Perez on SpecialK Records - grubby, warped techno for the more weird nod wonderful dancefloors out there. Lovely fat basslines do the heavy lifting from the first bars of 'Fat Beat', which has occasional cymbal splashes and a farty lead, while 'Be Hungry' locks into tight, rolling patterns. 'Crowd Eater' is more drawn out and defies interlocked layers of malleable acid, spoken word transmission and loopy drums. 'Freezer Wire' is minimal with a colder, more mechanical drive but still infused with ghostly monologues next to the glitchy hits and liquid, bulbous dubs of colour. Functional pressure shaped by the current Valencia sound and aimed squarely at the floor.
